Laura C. Wells

Though completely self-taught in her jewelry craft, Laura’s degree in environmental design and twenty plus years experience as an architectural designer is visible in her inventive use of color, sense of balance and cisual design. Her mother, a folk-artist from Northern Alaska instilled in her an appreciation and connection to their Aleut heritage, while her father, an architect, taught her an appreciation for excellence in design.
Laura took every opportunity to study and travel abroad, both during the pursuit of her degree, and later as an architectural designer.
Trip to Italy, Switzerland and Australia proved particularly inspirational.
While living in Berkeley, CA, the gifts of a basic jewelry artist set, and the birth of a daughter several years later, acted as the catalyst for a career change to jewelry design.
Now, as a member of the presitigious Spanish Village in San Diego’s historic Balboa Park, Christensen Studio is part of a community of over 250 artists from the San Diego region. Christensen Studio jewelry is lovingly sold throughout California in upscale boutiques, as well as art and craft shows.
